The deal, in plain language.

These terms cover the use of this website and any website design, hosting, or maintenance service agreement between Cumberland Web Works and a client. Specific scope, pricing, and timelines for a given project are agreed in writing with that client and take precedence over anything general on this site.

Our subscription service typically includes design and build of your site, hosting, security and maintenance, and basic content updates. What is included in your plan is whatever we confirmed with you in writing. Work outside that scope is quoted separately before we start it.

We build the site well and we care about results, but we do not guarantee specific rankings, traffic, leads, sales, or revenue. Anything on this site describing what a good website can do is a description of our work, not a promise of a business outcome.

You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the text, images, logos, reviews, and other material you give us, and you confirm you have the right to use them. You keep ownership of your content.

Subscription fees are billed on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can cancel by telling us in writing; the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not pro-rate partial periods. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where we say otherwise in writing.

If your subscription ends, the hosting, maintenance, and support we provide end with it and your site stops being served from our hosting. We’ll work with you in good faith on handing over your content.

We may suspend service for non-payment, or end an agreement if the relationship stops working — with notice, and without holding your content hostage.

We work to keep sites online and secure, but no hosting is perfect and we can’t promise uninterrupted service. To the extent allowed by law, our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.
